A Day in Lyon

March 8, 2009 by heart4kids

This week I had a day off in Lyon, France so I got a day-pass for the metro system and did some exploring.  I prefer looking at shops that are hundreds of years old over walking through a shopping mall.  One of the highlights in Lyon was taking the cable-car to the top of the mountain to see the Fourviere cathedral and the ruins of an old Roman theater.  I’m reading the book “Pillars of the Earth” which is giving me an appreciation of old cathedrals.

The Petronas Towers

There is a large park and shopping mall at the base of the towers

As a crew, we were staying at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur just 2 blocks from the Petronas Towers.  A few years ago these were the world’s tallest buildings.  We decided to take a look.  Visitors are allowed to go to the bridge which crosses between the buildings.
